Volunteer Opportunities
Our organization offers a wealth of volunteer opportunities. We welcome everyone who is sincerely interested in animal welfare. Volunteers under the age of 18 will be required to have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Volunteers under the age of 16 must generally be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.
You may complete our Volunteer Registration Application here on our website. Your skills and availability will then be matched with ongoing and unexpected projects. Below are some of our continuing opportunities.
At the Shelter
At the shelter, volunteers are needed to help with bathing and exercising our guests. Our guests have a better chance of finding a home if they are flea-free and are kept smelling their best! All of our guests are starved for play and loving human contact. Please spend a little time making their stay with us as pleasant as possible. You'll make their day and your own as well!
Education and Outreach
One of our focuses is educating young people about proper care of and respect for animals. If you have a group in mind that would be receptive to this kind of education, please let us know! Better yet, if you have a creative approach in mind and can help with these efforts, we'd love to hear from you. Please call the shelter at 833-0504 to visit about suggestions and requests along these lines.
PETSMART
Two Sunday afternoons per month, a group of volunteers has taken animals to PetsMart for adoption. The dates are listed on the Events of Interest page. This program has been extremely successful and offers our guests an opportunity to be adopted on a day when our shelter is closed. In only six months, thanks to the efforts of volunteers, over 100 lucky animals have found homes.
